SEC 520 Integrated Standards-Based Learning Design for the Secondary English Language Arts Classroom
This course provides secondary English Language Arts (ELA) educators with a deep exploration of content knowledge, curricular frameworks, and instructional best practices for teaching literature, writing, language, and media literacy. Candidates will analyze national and state standards, develop research-based instructional strategies, and design engaging and equitable lessons that support diverse learners. The course emphasizes student-centered pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and meaningful assessment in secondary ELA classrooms.
