Program Description

The Associate of Science degree program in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare students to enter the criminal justice profession in a variety of first-line positions. Students in the program are exposed to the foundational areas of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, the courts, corrections and the juvenile justice system.

Program Outcomes

  • Foundational Knowledge
    Discuss the foundational concepts of law enforcement, the courts, corrections, correlates of crime and the juvenile justice system.
  • Law and Ethics
    Analyze legal and ethical issues in contemporary criminal justice contexts.
  • Problem Solving
    Explain proposed solutions to societal problems within the criminal justice system.
  • Communication
    Use clear, concise, and professional communication to facilitate the transfer of information critical to public safety processes.
  • Diversity
    Illustrate challenges to incorporating diversity in contemporary public safety contexts.
