Financial Assistance
Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. AIU participates in a variety of financial aid programs and AIU administers its financial aid programs in accordance with prevailing federal and state laws and its own institutional policies. All eligibility requirements of these programs must be met in order to participate. Application for financial aid should happen as early as possible to allow sufficient time for processing. Financial aid must be approved, and all necessary documentation completed, before the aid can be applied towards tuition and fees. Application for financial aid may occur more than once during the calendar year, depending on the date of enrollment.
Both student and parent federal and private loans are generally disbursed in three equal installments during an academic year aligned to the student's academic quarter/term. Federal, state, and institutional grants/scholarships are generally disbursed in six installments during an academic year aligned to the student's academic session and enrollment status. Any other outside fund sources are disbursed in accordance to the agency’s terms and conditions.
Please note, eligibility and disbursement amounts are subject to change due to enrollment status, course attendance, satisfactory academic progress, and general financial aid eligibility. The Financial Aid Office can be contacted for additional information and guidance.
To apply for Federal Student Aid, students and contributors must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) each year. The FAFSA application is available online at the Federal Student Aid website (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa). FAFSA applications are processed through the Department of Education and all information is confidential. Students must be accepted at AIU before financial aid applications can be estimated and processed.
