Mission
American InterContinental University’s School of Information Technology’s mission is to provide for the varying educational needs of a culturally diverse and geographically dispersed student body with the goal of preparing students academically, personally, and professionally for successful careers that meet societal and organizational needs through the selection, creation, application, integration, administration, and management of various computing technologies.
Program Description
Information technology leaders know how to conceptualize, implement, and manage high-quality, secure information systems to support the needs of private and public sector entities. The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) degree program is designed to equip students with technical understanding and professional confidence to help them prepare for a successful career in a high-tech field or in any organization that relies on IT. With a dynamic curriculum focused on industry relevant technology, trends, and applications, students can acquire high-quality technical knowledge, hands-on abilities, and key career skills in areas that include critical thinking, time management, effective communication, leadership, technology, and project management. Students have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in information technology and can select from one of several industry relevant academic concentrations that reflect emerging trends in the industry.
Program Outcomes

- Communicate technical information verbally, written, and graphically in various professional settings.
- Design and maintain computer-based solutions based on user or system requirements, best practices and industry-relevant tools and technologies.
- Recommend computing solutions based on evaluation of current technologies, principles, and theories.
- Function effectively on teams in various roles appropriate for the information technology discipline.

This program includes a series of courses that correlate to the respective content and competencies of the A+, Network+, and Security+ certification exams offered by CompTIA¹ and the Certified Ethical Hacker certification exam offered by EC-Council¹. These credentials can serve as independent validation of the knowledge and skills required to be successful in the fields of information technology (IT) computer user support, IT security, and networking.
AIU B.S.I.T. students will be eligible to receive a discounted rate for the CompTIA examination fee² once all of the respective courses above have been successfully completed in residence with the universityᶟ.
