Normal Course Load and Overload Process

The normal academic load is no more than 18 credits per quarter (9 credits per session) for undergraduate students or more than 12 hours per quarter for graduate students.

Online students wishing to carry additional hours above the normal academic load must have approval from an Associate Director of Academic Advising, and the request must be submitted in writing to Student Advising. Students must have successfully completed one session and be in good academic standing to be eligible.

Ground campus students wishing to carry additional hours above the normal academic load must first meet with their Academic Operations Coordinator to obtain Program Chair approval and complete the Overload Approval Form. The completed form must then be signed/approved by the Student Financial Services Department. The completed Overload Approval Form with all appropriate signatures is forwarded to the Chief Academic Officer for final approval.
